Österslöv School and Fjälkestad School are looking for a special educator

Österslöv School (F-3) and Fjälkestad School (4-6) are two small and well-functioning village schools about 10 minutes north of Kristianstad (approximately 170 students) with good results in both safety/well-being and goal fulfillment in subjects.

We focus on providing our students with early support measures and conduct regular screenings and follow-ups that are carefully analyzed. We have a well-functioning student health team that has made progress in our promotion and prevention work but is also constantly looking to further develop. We have a strong commitment and a clear desire to learn new things, and therefore we are happy to go the extra mile to help our students succeed. We enjoy and have fun together in our daily lives in a humble manner.

At the schools, we have the privilege of having two teaching teachers present in the classroom for large parts of the school week. In the coming years, our two schools will merge into a new school (F-6) to be built in Österslöv, which will be an exciting journey. There are good opportunities for handover from the current special educator.

We will conduct interviews on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.

Your role with us

Based on analyses at the individual, group, and organizational levels, you will work in a guiding role with a focus on group and organization. You actively contribute to qualified discussions about learning situations and the development of the school environment together with the principal, work teams, and the student health team. Furthermore, you support educators in structuring their work to facilitate students' learning situations. With a salutogenic approach, you contribute to health-promoting and preventive work.

Working with issues related to inclusion and values is a natural part of your daily work. You work to remove barriers and difficulties in the learning environment, develop alternative learning environments and learning tools.

In your work, you create relationships both internally and externally characterized by mutual respect and trust, and you meet students where they are. You engage, inspire, and stimulate students to learn and take responsibility, as well as lead and organize the work so that a safe learning environment is created based on mutual respect and cooperation. In a systematic way, you reflect on and evaluate the practical work individually and together with others. Your tasks also include planning, prioritizing, and taking responsibility for your own time and development.

Who are we looking for?

You who are applying have a teaching license with authorization to teach grades 1-6 in primary school. The work also requires that you have a special education degree and experience of 3 years of well-regarded work as a teacher. You have a well-regarded ability to guide and experience teaching as a teacher in grades F-6 in primary school is meritorious. For us, it is an advantage if you are well acquainted with and can live up to the professional ethical principles for teachers.

Furthermore, good ability to translate the organization's mission regarding students in need of special support is required, as well as knowledge to adapt working methods and approaches to different groups' and individuals' conditions. Of course, you are well acquainted with current special education research. You manage to practice a situationally adapted learning and leadership that is based on understanding students' situations and values and meeting them where they are without difficulty. You create relationships both internally and externally characterized by respect and trust and can engage, inspire, stimulate, and empower students to learn and take responsibility.

You have good knowledge of and ability to work based on current governing documents. You can systematically reflect on and evaluate the practical work individually and with others. The ability to document is meritorious, as well as your ability to plan and prioritize your working time. In the role, you need to be able to use digital technology as a tool in your work. We want you to have good knowledge of alternative learning tools, and we would also like you to be able to handle digital compensatory learning tools. Being able to see the organization from a holistic perspective and integrate student health work into the organization is desirable.
